Download the UK Postcode List - Product Details
The Postcode List Download contains all 1.8 million UK
Postcodes including the last two digits of the postcode (Postman's Walk - example UB7 7EB).
You've the option of taking Town Names in addition to the Postcode
Area, District and Sector.
For a introductory price of just £49, you may purchase and download the very latest postcode list containing every UK postcode (1.8 million postcodes).
As approved distributors and value added resellers, we have
created this subset data file using Royal Mail and Ordnance Survey
source files and have simplified their RAW data to such an extent
that we are able to offer sub sets of their files cheaper than if
your ordered direct.
The file will be supplied to you under
a Royal Mail and or Ordnance Survey licence for 12 months
unlimited use. During this time you will receive quarterly
updates.
The Postcode List includes:
- 124 post code areas
- 2,827 post code districts
- 9,487 post code sectors
- 1.8 million fully structured post codes
- Optional Town Name
- Optional Grid Reference
Postcode Areas
Each Postcode Area comprises one or two alpha characters generally chosen to as an extract from the area name e.g. B for Birmingham, CF for Cardiff, CV Coventry etc. In total the UK comprises of one hundred and twenty four postcode areas.
Postcode Districts
Each Postcode Area is made up of dozens of Postcode Districts represented by the first one or two numbers immediately following the postcode area. B7, CV21, SL16 etc. The district's numbers range from 0 to 99. In London a further alpha character is used to divide some London districts into sub divisions (suffixes) e.g. EC1A. There are 2,827 postcode districts.
Postcode Sectors
Postcode Sectors are numbered 0-9. It should be noted that when sorting postcodes into order, sector 0 is the tenth sector rather than the first! There are 9,487 postcode sectors in the UK.
Updates
The file is updated every three months and a free update will always be available to you providing your licence remains current.
Format
The file will be supplied in Double Quoted Comma Separated Variable (CSV) Text format. Please let us know if you would prefer the file supplied in a different format and we will do our best to accommodate you. Sample of the file.
